I have a long thing about my kid slideshow I want to post but I must keep my nose to the grindstone today. Here are a few quick initial-type sketches because people wanted to see less finished work. I've got a bunch more I have to scan. Also coming up will be my demo painting I did at the Society of Creative Arts of Newtown, SCAN.
More importantly today I want to alert you to a friend of mine's blog, Sergio Martinez. Keep an eye on this blog because you're going to see a lot of beautiful work here. I can't say enough good things about Sergio. He's one of the best. Go to his blog and let him know what you think.

ReplyDeleteThese are great - and it's nice to see the rough sketches along with the more refined work. I'm impressed that you can retain that intitial energy usually sparked in the rough, all the way through to the finish. I seem to lose that energy when I get to the later stages. Man - I gots lots to learn.

Thanks guys. Yes, please keep going to Sergio's blog. He has a huge range and has done a great volume of incredible work. I have a few of his illustrated books and I own three of his paintings so I'm kind of cheerleading for him. You know, I'll be repeating this on my blog again soon so I don't need to say it here. Right now I don't think that Sergio quite knows how to post on other blogs or to even make comments on his own. There are quite a few blogging tricks I can't quite perform yet either. Oh, HTML Knowledge Fairy could you please tap me with your wand?
ReplyDeletePensol, sorry about the problem with getting ladies to take off their clothes in the cold. There are just not enough nudes in snow and ice. I suggest you quickly corner that market. One guy I know successfully paints rusty old cars all the time so there has to be a specialty genre for you there in your icy paradise.

Thanks for all the comments and thanks for visiting Sergio's blog. It's time I post something new. I've got a few things ready to shoot and or scan and I feel like throwing it all up at once but I'm going to try and pace myself. A few things that I thought were complicated to do with a blog turned out to be terribly simple so I'm feeling very stupid today.
